Big Five Blackjack Gold: 5 times the fun of regular Blackjack
There are so many versions of Blackjack out there, but this new version has Blackjack veterans paying attention. That game is: Big Five Blackjack Gold. Its twist on the classic casino game is that the dealer uses 5 decks of cards at once.
Big Five Blackjack Gold is a re-vamped version of Big Five Blackjack from Microgaming. They gave their game a facelift by incorporating slicker graphics and better animation. It has a real casino feel and you can easily imagine yourself at a Blackjack table in Las Vegas or Monaco.
Big Five Blackjack Gold: strategy and rules
-
The aim of the game is for your hand to beat the Dealer's hand. Whoever gets to 21 without going over or "busting" wins. A "Blackjack" is a hand made up of an Ace (which can be worth 11) and a 10 card or a Face Card; a true Blackjack beats any other combination of 21.
-
The 5 decks of cards (all regular 52 card decks) are shuffled before each hand. The rest of the rules follow regular Blackjack rules except that the Dealer only deals him or herself one initial card, face up.
Here are the different options once you have seen the dealer's card:
| Play Options |
What They Mean |
<|
Hit
When you want the dealer to deal you another card. Do this when you think you can get closer to a 21 total; you can hit more than once.
Stand
When you don't want any more cards and think this is as close to 21 as you can safely get.
Double Down
This is when you think you need just one more card to win the hand. If you make this wager you can only take one card and then you have to stand.
Split
If your first two cards are of the same value, you can split them into 2 hands and play 2 hands at once. You have to place an additional wager equal to the first bet to cover both hands.
Surrender
You can give up half of your bet and not play out the hand if the dealer makes Blackjack.
Take Insurance
If the dealer's first card is an Ace, you can take out an insurance bet which can be up to half of the original bet. It's a side wager and pays 2:1 if dealer has Blackjack. You can't take out insurance if you have already Split or Double Down.

Online Blackjack aficionados really love Big Five Blackjack Gold because there is so much excitement without complicating the game. Unlike other Blackjack games that try to make the action fast by adding more than one hand, this game simply adds more possibilities of hand combinations to make the game more challenging. There's no worrying about following multiple hands, just concentrate on one place and see if you can beat the Dealer.
